The whole job, in two pictures

From overgrown to ready to plant.

Before A garden bed choked with dead stalks, weeds and last year's growth.
After The same bed cut back, cleared, and raked to clean open soil.

Same bed. No dead growth, no weeds, no pile left behind.
Just clean soil you can plant into — and we'll put the plants in while we're there if you'd rather not.

Who this is for

Sometimes the garden just gets ahead of you.

  • A new place with beds nobody has touched in years.
  • A season you didn't have the time for.
  • A garden that's become more work than enjoyment.
  • Or you'd just rather somebody else handled spring cleanup.

That's what we're here for.

How it works

Four steps. One straightforward process.

You don't need to be home for any of it.

  1. Dead perennial stalks being cut back to the ground.

    Step 1

    We clear the old growth

Spent perennials, dead annuals, weeds, vines, leaf litter and matted-down mulch all come out, down to open soil.

  2. Garden debris loaded onto a tarp and into a truck.

    Step 2

    We haul it away

Everything we pull leaves with us. Nothing gets piled behind the shed or left at the curb for you to deal with.

  3. Bare bed soil raked smooth and edged.

    Step 3

    We prep the soil

Beds get turned, raked smooth, and edged clean. Compost or fresh mulch worked in if you want it.

  4. New starts being planted into a freshly prepped bed.

    Step 4

    We can plant it, too

Have your starts, bulbs or seed ready and we'll put them in before we go. Or leave the bed open and plant it yourself.

Not sure where to start? Text a photo of the beds and we'll take it from there — no measuring, no forms.

We only pull what you want pulled.

Mark anything you're keeping, or walk us through it at the estimate. Established perennials, bulbs that haven't come up yet, the volunteer you've decided to keep — whatever you flag, stays. If we're not sure about something, we leave it and ask.

April – May

Spring cleanup

As soon as the ground thaws. Last year's stalks come down, the weeds come out before they seed, and the bed is open and ready for the season.

September – first hard freeze

Fall cutback

Spent growth cut down, beds cleared and edged before the snow. It's the difference between an easy spring and a rough one.

Why Monarca

The garden is the fun part.
This is the other part.

Monarca Services is a small Sandpoint-area outfit that does one thing: clearing out garden beds and getting the soil ready to plant. Beds get away from you. A season gets busy, the stalks go over, the weeds win, and by spring it's a whole weekend you don't have.

We aren't here to redesign your yard or sell you a landscaping plan. We clear the bed, take the mess with us, and hand it back ready to plant.

Before you call

Questions we get every week.

What about the plants I want to keep?

Point them out at the estimate, or flag them with a stake or a bit of tape. Anything you mark stays. If we're unsure about something, we leave it and ask.

What happens to everything you pull?

It leaves with us. Nothing gets piled behind the shed, bagged at the curb, or burned on site.

When should I book?

Spring cleanups start as soon as the ground thaws and fill up fast. Fall cutback runs from September until the first hard freeze. Earlier is always better.

Do you plant, or just clear?

Either. We'll clear and prep and stop there, or put your starts and bulbs in while we're on site. Tell us which when you call.

Do I need to be home?

Usually not, provided we have access and we've already gone over what's staying and what's going.

Is this a one-time thing?

It can be. Most people end up booking both ends of the season, because a bed that got cut back in fall is a much smaller job in spring.
